Advantages of Cold Adhesive Repair Process
Compared to other repair methods such as hot vulcanization, cold bonding repair technology has unique advantages. It does not require complex heating and vulcanization equipment, is easy to operate, can significantly shorten downtime, and reduce the impact on production. Meanwhile, the cost is relatively low, especially suitable for emergency situations that require quick repairs.
Polishing: Use a polishing machine to roughen the surface of the scratched area and surrounding conveyor belt, remove aged rubber layers and impurities, with the aim of increasing the contact area between the adhesive and the conveyor belt and improving adhesion. The polishing range should be slightly larger than the scratch area.
Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the polished surface with a specialized cleaning agent to ensure that there is no dust or oil residue. This step is crucial, as if the surface is not clean, it will seriously affect the bonding effect of the adhesive.
Glue coating: Select cold adhesive suitable for conveyor belt materials, such as the commonly used German SC2002 two-component high-performance industrial adhesive. Apply the adhesive evenly to the scratched area and the bonding surface of the repair strip, apply two layers, and wait for each layer to fully dry. The first layer of glue mainly plays a penetrating role, allowing the conveyor belt fibers to better absorb the glue; The second layer of glue forms a sticky layer on the surface, making it easy to repair and stick the strip.
Fitting repair strip: When the glue dries to a slightly sticky state, precisely fit the cut repair strip to the scratched area to ensure a tight fit and eliminate bubbles as much as possible. The material and thickness of the repair strip should be selected according to the actual situation of the conveyor belt. For example, the fabric reinforcement layer repair strip is suitable for repairing scratches that withstand high tensile forces.
precautions
The construction environment should be kept clean and dry, with a temperature above 10 ℃ and humidity below 90%. Otherwise, it may affect the curing effect of the adhesive. In addition, strictly follow the instructions for using the adhesive, and accurately control the mixing ratio, curing time, etc.
